What we Believe

What We Believe

The Bible:   We believe the Bible, consisting of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God; inerrant in its original autographs; the sole basis of faith and practice.

The Godhead: We believe in one God, infinite in holiness, in truth, in knowledge and in power; Creator of the universe; eternally existent in three Persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ: We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Ghost and born of the Virgin Mary.  He died on the cross a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures.

Further, He rose bodily from the dead, ascended into Heaven, where at the right hand of the majesty of High, He is our High Priest and advocate.

The Holy Spirit: We believe in the Holy Spirit, Who convicts men of sin, makes men children of God through the single ground of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and permanently indwells all who so believe.

Man: We believe that all men by nature and choice are sinners, and, as such, are lost, separated from God, and in need of the Savior.

Salvation: We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only such as receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become children of God.

Eternal Security: We believe in the eternal security of the believer's salvation.

The Church: We believe that the church is composed of believers in Jesus Christ, united in the Body of which He is the Head.  In this present age, the Church is manifested in local, organized assemblies composed of born-again, baptized believers, voluntarily united for the purpose of the worship of God, the fellowship of believers, the observance of the ordinances, and the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world.

Governance of the Church: We believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and the Head of the Church, and that every local church has the right under Christ to decide and govern its own affairs.

Ordinances: We believe that water baptism and the Lord's Supper are the only ordinances to be observed by the Church during the present age.  They are, however, not to be regarded as a means of salvation.

The Priesthood of Believers: We believe in the priesthood of each believer, giving him the right and responsibility of personal, direct approach to God.

Our Blessed Hope: We believe in the personal and premillenial and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and that this "Blessed Hope has a vital bearing on the personal life service of the believer.

Our Eternal Destiny: We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost: the saved unto the resurrection of life and the lost to the resurrection of damnation.
